Waymon and Jackie joined Cleveland First Baptist Church in 1975 and have served as leaders of the Young at Heart for five years. Jackie has been very active in our church as a choir member, VBS worker and director, G.A. Leader and as a member of the cemetery committee. Waymon is an Ordained Deacon since 1976, R.A. Leader, youth Sunday School teacher from 1977 to 2004, church moderator and was a member of the vision committee for the new church.

Waymon and Jackie felt led to lead the Young at Heart because they believed that the church didn’t have leaders for the senior adult’s ministry. Everyone that attends our church is important, and the seniors have unique needs that are different from those of the young people and working adults. Waymon and Jackie are a blessing to the church as they help address some of those needs.

The bible verse which speaks to them in this ministry is John 15:12.

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Fun Facts

• Don’t ask Jackie what kind of dressing she wants on her salad when she is tired.
• Waymon normally jerks his glasses off when making a point.
